Barbara Reese, MSW,
ACSW, LCSW, MPS, ADTR, Clinical Director
Ms. Reese is a N.J. State Licensed
Clinical Social Worker. Her graduate degrees are in Expressive Arts Therapy from
Pratt Institute and in Clinical Social Work from New York University. This
mind-body blend is a core foundation in the treatment orientation to virtually
all of her clinical work.
She is currently the clinical director for the Women’s Therapy Service of
Montclair, LLC, which offers a psychodynamic and feminist therapy approach to
women’s mental and physical health care. She has been treating women’s issues
and eating disorders since 1995 as a clinical social worker in private practice,
with women who are experiencing grief/loss, separation/ divorce, family and
marital relationships struggles. She is an experienced child/adolescent
therapist and sees children at the Women’s Therapy Service at the age of 2 and
older.
Ms. Reese is an experienced group psychotherapist. At
the Women’s Therapy Service of Montclair, she conducts 12-week supportive
therapy groups, The Inner Image Program®. Several of these eating disorder
groups have bonded and stayed together 5-10 years. She worked for several
leading NYC hospitals in the department of psychiatry and developed the skills
of supervising and teaching the art of group psychotherapy. For a decade, she
functioned as a professional group leader and co-coordinator, for the community
eating disorder support groups of the American Anorexia/Bulimia Association of
New Jersey, at the Hackensack Medical Center site.
Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Eating Disorder Support Groups
sponsored by ANAD, a national non-profit eating disorder organization. She
coordinates teams of professional and lay volunteers to facilitate these
community multi-family groups which are held at The Saint Barnabas Ambulatory
Care Center, in Livingston, New Jersey, on the first Saturday morning of the
month.
Prior to 1995, she worked as a dance/movement therapist in private practice in
New York City, treating body image problems through group dance/movement
therapy. In the Manhattan, In the 1980’s, she worked as a Body Image Specialist
in the Outpatient Obesity Program at New York University Medical Center, as a
dance/movement therapist.
Ms. Reese has lectured on the psychology of body image and the treatment and
prevention of eating disorders at national and international conferences. Her
