Pregnancy and Beyond
Mondays 7:00 to 8:00 PM or
Mondays 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM
This weekly group is to maximize your mental health during your pregnancy to insure a happy and healthy pregnancy, and wonderful bonding time with your newborn. At the Women’s Therapy Service, we have found that having a personal history of depression or anxiety, an eating disorder or recent history of, a personal or familial history of postpartum depression, or a personal history with abuse or trauma, can all be risk factors for Post-Partum Depression.
The intent of this weekly pregnancy group is to focus on the joys of pregnancy and the rewards of pending motherhood, and to shore up one’s coping skills that will be necessary in the first months with your newborn. This group is intended to be a safe and supportive environment, to express the range of feelings and moods that you will experience in pregnancy, and to experience support from other mothers-to-be.
To schedule your initial consultation, and to inquire about group fees, please call Barbara Reese, LCSW, at (973) 783-2292.
The group psychotherapy fees may be reimbursable by the mental health portion of your health insurance, under CPT code # 90853 for Group Psychotherapy.

The purpose of the group is to provide a safe place to express the underlying feelings and thoughts that are beneath the symptoms of the eating disorder and body dissatisfaction. The goal is to increase coping for the girls with their stresses and challenges, with peers, academics, sports, and family, and resume their normal developmental path.
Expressive modalities such as journal writing, relaxation techniques, and art will be utilized to help increase their ability to identify and articulate feeling states.
