Ms. Lorena Cartagena Ceron, MSW, LSW
Ms. Ceron is Staff Clinician and is a Co-Facilitator in our Daybreak DBT Skills Group Program for Teens and Adults.. She is a Licensed Social Worker * with a masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Rutgers. Ms. Ceron is dynamic bi-lingual clinician and treats in a Multi-Cultural Framework. She can provide child, teen, and family therapy in English or Spanish. Outside of The Women’s Therapy Service, she is a Supervisor for a leading Essex County agency that provides wrap-around mental health services for youth.
As a pediatric and adolescent therapist, she is skilled with working with youth with eating disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and poor social skills. She supports and utilizes FBT, Family Based Therapy for the early intervention in child and adolescent eating disorders. Using CBT and DBT, her approach is strength-based and solution-based in helping her clients develop the self-awareness they need to overcome their mental health challenges. Her approach to family therapy, is to empower parents/caregivers to use effective skills that supports their vision on what is best for their child’s mental health challenges and their family environment.
Ms. Ceron is an active member of the Traumatic Loss Coalition of New Jersey and responds to sudden and traumatic incidents that effect schools and communities. Sheprovides individual, group, and staff counseling, on-site, for the traumatic loss.
With an optimistic perspective, Ms. Ceron works diligently to help her clients make the changes they need to make, to create their life worth living.
